Congratulations
Congratulations to the grade fours who all did an amazing job during our fall assembly. Students shared the Calgary Public Library Children's Land Acknowledgement, read their own Land Acknowledgements, shared why Land Acknowledgements are so important, sang The Morning Cree Song, helped set up and take down the gym, were runners to gather other students, and fantastic role models for the whole school. Thank you to the grade fours for all of their hard work and practice. Thank you to those families who were able to attend. For those who were unable to attend, hopefully your child has filled you in on how amazing their assembly was!
Happy Thanksgiving
Happy Thanksgiving to all of you, Sibbald Families. I hope you have a wonderful long weekend! I am thankful to have the opportunity to work with your children this year!
What Did Students Do?
This week students were introduced to decimal numbers. They learned about place value in decimal numbers to the hundredths. Students worked with a place value chart to develop their understanding. After their lesson, they walked around the room finding and then solving math riddles involving decimal numbers. Following this, students solved math riddles in their journals and then wrote their own. Finally, students wrote their own math riddles on the whiteboards around the room and solved each other's. They put their solutions on sticky notes.
Learning Outcomes: Mathematics
