What Did Students Do?

In small reading groups, students have been learning about a variety of text features. They learned what different features there are (image, caption, bolded words, table of contents, etc) and the purpose of each. They studied these features while learning about the Grasslands. Then, students used these features and a variety of texts to take jot notes about the Grasslands. After this, they compared answers in small groups and as a class to clarify their understanding of information. Following this, students reviewed their understanding of paragraph writing and wrote a paragraph, organizing their ideas, as a whole class. The next task was to create text, using a variety of features, to share their understanding of The Grasslands Region of Alberta.

Questions to Ask Your Child:

What region of Alberta do we live in?

What is climate?

What is the Grasslands like?
